Payroll Specialist

Job title: Payroll Specialist

Responsibilities:

• Process full-cycle payroll according to government legislation and company policies;
• Audit payroll records  and perform adjustments and corrections where needed; 
• Handle inquires and provide outstanding service to all employees and external contacts; 
• Create and run payroll reports, and provide payroll information to department heads as required;
• Record and maintain vacation & sick leave reports; 
• Create and maintain employee files accurately; 
• Ensure that all government remittances and other payments are processed in a timely manner; 
• Prepare and balance month end journal entries, payroll and benefits billing and reconciliations;
• Perform year end balancing and reporting; 
• Administer employee quarterly benefit plans;
• Ensure continuous improvement of payroll and benefit processes; 
• Maintain the confidentiality of payroll information & respect privacy laws;

Knowledge, skills and qualification requirements:

• Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in Accounting or Finance; 
• 3-5 years payroll experience;
• Experience/knowledge of payroll legislation and regulations;
• Previous experience using HR payroll software; 
• Knowledge of Accounting; 
• Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills; 
• Excellent organizational skills, working within deadlines and schedules, and ability to think outside the box; 
• Must be a team player, and able to work within a fast-paced environment;
• Keen attention to detail;
• Ability to take ownership of duties and prioritize tasks.
